As this incomprehensible year of 2020 draws to a close, the School Nurses of California Foundation Board of Directors wishes to thank all our individual donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners for your extraordinary financial generosity and support again this past year.  We especially thank you for your generous response to our successful "Giving Tuesday" donation campaign.  Your monetary gifts have enabled SNOCF to continue in its Mission of “funding programs and services to improve the well‐being of California students and school communities”.
In 2021, SNOCF’s focus will remain on helping school communities decrease chronic absenteeism during a time of remote-learning triggered by the Covid-19 virus.  SNOCF remains committed to demonstrating that school nursing intervention can increase attendance, even if schools cannot conduct onsite classroom learning.
In 2020, SNOCF broadened its efforts by partnering with physicians and universities in California to seek grant opportunities to assist in the gathering of research data regarding the role of school nurses in the Covid-19 era, and we will continue this quest next year.  We also plan to offer another grant opportunity sometime during 2021.
The School Nurses of California Foundation will continue to seek charitable donations to aid us in meeting both our Mission and focus.  Please consider joining us in our on-going efforts.
SNOCF wishes everyone a very Happy Holiday Season & a very healthy 2021!

SNOCF Announces 2 New Grant Recipients!

The School Nurses of California Foundation is very pleased to announce that two $1,000 Grants were recently awarded from among all the applications we received during our Spring 2020 grant cycle.
  • The first Grantee is George Washington High School (in the San Francisco Unified School District) for its proposal to SNOCF for assistance in the creation an interdepartmental/interdisciplinary "Attendance Task Force" in order to help increase attendance rates of English Language Learner students who are identified as being at high-risk for absenteeism.
  • The second Grantee is the Redwood City School District for its proposal to SNOCF for assistance with the purchase of a non-contact infrared thermometer for each school as part of the District's "Early Detection Program" to safeguard the health of students and mitigate the spread of illness and absenteeism due to the Covid-19 virus and other communicable diseases after the anticipated Fall re-opening of district schools.
Congratulations to both Grant recipients!  And thank you to all those who took the time and effort to apply.  Stay tuned for another future Grant opportunity!
