Watch for SNOCF's next Grant Opportunity this coming Fall!
The School Nurses of California Foundation congratulates the 3 award recipients of our Fall 2023 Grant Cycle! They are:
1. Candace Gyure, R.N., Communicable Disease and Immunization Program Nurse with the San Diego Unified School District, for financial assistance to help establish SDUSD a provider of vaccinations under the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program.
2. Michelle Harrison, School Nurse at Palmdale School District’s Los Amigos Dual Immersion Middle School, for financial assistance to continue their after-school program, Zen Academy, in helping equip 5th - 8th graders to build and promote positive coping skills, emotional management, social skills, and positive relationship.
3. Andrew Nguyen, RN, MSN, Director of Student Health Services with the Los Banos USD for financial assistance to equip their nursing team with specialized training for learning the latest guidelines for first aid/emergency response and tackling medical emergencies effectively.

with a proposal to create an interdepartmental/interdisciplinary "Attendance Task Force" to help increase the attendance rates of their high-risk ELL students.
Redwood City School District
with a proposal for non-contact infrared thermometers to help mitigate the spread of illness due to Covid-19 and help increase attendance rates after the re-opening of district schools.

The School Nurses of California Foundation (SNOCF) provides financial support for:
- Programs and supplies to help keep students healthy and ready to learn.
- Unfunded legislative mandates that can improve the health and well-being of California students and the school community.
- Assist with funding of data collection, reports, and technology, focused on improving school health.
- Organizations that promote and enhance the value of school nursing.
- School Nurses who conduct and publish research working to improve the health of California students.
School nurses understand the link between student health and academic success, and the complex factors involved in promoting and supporting student health.
